Mama Makes is an electrifying brand that captures the essence of modern Asian fusion dining with a vibrant and trendy flair. The logo, featuring a bold and hot red color palette, is an embodiment of the restaurant’s energetic spirit. Hand-drawn illustrations portray a whimsical woman with wild, colorful hair indulging in a bowl of delectable ramen noodles, surrounded by dynamic squiggly lines and stars. This imagery exudes a sense of excitement and spontaneity, inviting the younger generation to embark on a culinary journey that is both unique and stylish.

Jackson Built was developed as a brand identity for a building company looking to stand out in a saturated market. The concept was to develop a brand aesthetic that matched the quality, sophistication and caliber of projects they execute, to act as a stamp of excellence. The outcome was a clean geometric logo form with rich influence from building forms as the logo mark. The shape of a window is manipulated to curve and tessellate, influenced by the owners Maori heritage as homage to Maori pattern making and contemporary Koru forms. Negative space creates a roof line and support whilst the outer frame stamps the design in place.

FIX RETAIL STORES
DESIGNED AT GR|DG
Caltex New Zealand sought a vibrant re-brand for its nationwide network of gas station stores, aiming to distinguish them from both the overarching Caltex brand and the forecourt ownership. Joining the dynamic design team at Guy Richards Design Guide, I assumed a pivotal role in orchestrating the seamless integration of the fresh branding into the store interiors. My responsibilities encompassed overseeing artwork direction, signage implementation, and managing the print and manufacturing processes. Executing this re-brand across 140 stores nationwide demanded a meticulous approach to spatial awareness and a strategic understanding of brand activation within physical environments. As the project evolved, so too did the brand itself, necessitating the development of new communications, promotions, and variations of the original concept.
